Welcome! The following applies to the 2008-2009 CYO basketball season:
Eligibility: All area youth are invited to participate in basketball at St. Martin's. However, there are size limits to our program. Out of all applications received on the two registration days, priority will be given to:
Attention Catholic Youth: One of the primary purposes of CYO is the spiritual development of Catholic youth. In keeping with this purpose, all Catholic children wishing to play basketball must be enrolled in a religious education program. If you are enrolled in a religious education program in another parish, a letter confirming registration from that religious education director must be turned in to the Athletic Director by September 30, 2008. We cannot accept registration forms for Catholic children that are not enrolled in religious education.
Children who register for religious education at St.
Martin's also must regularly attend classes.
If these
children also participate in CYO basketball, then they may be
suspended from playing CYO basketball.
Our program requires that all
Catholics provide proof of registration for religious education.
Our parish enforces
this at annual registration ... and our parish will enforce this throughout
the CYO season. Thus, any excessive, unexcused absences by CYO participants from St. Martin's
religious education classes may result in removal from the CYO program
until attendance improves and work is made-up.
Travel: In addition to the above requirements, if tryouts reveal that there are not enough parishioner players
to field a particular travel team, then non-parishioners (up to 3 per team per county rules) may be contacted to help form a team.

Photo Release and Authorization: By signing the registration form, you will give permission for your son or daughter to be photographed while participating in CYO events. These photos may be published in the Poughkeepsie Journal, on this website, or in our yearbook. If you have any concerns, then please contact Chris Fields.
Intramural Instructional League: There are no evaluations for instructional league players. The instructional league is split into two divisions:

CYO Travel League Try-Outs: Saturday September 20, 2008 (and some Sunday, September 21 as indicated below) at St. Martin's Gym
Players are selected through try-outs and must be either parishioners or as indicated under Eligibility. Team rosters are typically 10-11 players. Players that do not make a travel team usually play in the intramural program and must attend the player evaluations on Saturday, September 27. See Intramural League Evaluations for times.

Parents' Corner ... Sign-Ups Are Not Just for Kids: Adults can get involved, too. With over 500 children enrolled in our program, volunteers are needed to serve as head coaches, assistant coaches, referees, program administrators, parent monitors, etc. Please volunteer for any areas where you can help.
