    Bus Trip to Gampel Pavilion at the University of Connecticut

    Attend a Men's Basketball Practice Hosted by Jim Calhoun, Hall of Fame Coach and Head Coach of UConn's Men's Basketball.
    Audience: All coaches, players and parents
    Cost: $20 per person
    Note: Includes practice, discussion with Coach Calhoun, player autographs, campus tour, visit to Husky Sports Heritage Museum and dinner at Willington Pizza.


NOVEMBER 2011

Saturday, November 12 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

    3-Point Shooting Contest
    NBA All-Star Format:
    Each division will have 3 to 4 rounds, 12 to 8 to 4 to 2, with the highest point totals moving on. 5 shots each from 5 racks (25 in total); 1 minute, 30 seconds to complete. Each shot made counts as 1 point, except the last ball, the 'money' ball, which counts for 2 points.  Competition takes place simultaneously in both half courts.  Prizes will be given to 1st and 2and place finishers in each division plus they will also receive plaques with their name on it at the year-end awards ceremony.     This events takes about 2 hours to complete.
    Please arrive by 6:15 p.m. to warm-up so that we can start the event at 6:30 PM. 

    Audience: 5th thru 12th Grade Boys and Girls
    Location: St. Martin Gym
    Note: This event is Free.

Friday, November 25; 3:00 p.m. start time

    NJ Nets Event vs. the NY Knicks at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ
    3:00 - 5:00 p.m.: court time
    5:00 - 6:30 p.m. : private viewing of practice
    6:30 - 7:30 p.m. : man fan tunnels, stand with players for national anthem
    7:30 - 10:00 p.m. : game
    Note: NBA lock-out could have impact on this event.
    Audience: All CYO participants and their families and friends.

DECEMBER 2011

    Vassar College Men's Basketball Game
    Admission is FREE. Parents and kids arriving early will have the opportunity to meet with Coach Del Harris and his team prior to warm-ups.

    Vassar College Kids' Night

    Seminar on Non-Playing Careers in Sports

    The intent of this program is to get kids 7th grade and above thinking about careers in general, identifying a career about which they are passionate, the importance of great people skills, education requirements, career progression, work / life balance as well as to expose kids to meaningful careers in the sports industry, such as sports administration (athletic director and coaching), sports medicine (trainers, physical therapists), media (journalists, television / radio commentators), technological positions (imaging, photography, video), sales and marketing (tickets, strategy), etc.

    This seminar will include a panel of athletic directors, coaches, and trainers from Marist, Vassar and AAU programs, sales professionals from the NJ Nets, imaging director from Sports Illustrated, local journalists, television personalities and others TBD.

    Audience: Participates in the St. Martin CYO program 7th grade and up.


FEBRUARY 2012

Sunday, February 5 at 9:30 a.m.

    Super Bowl Sunday Mass
    Players are encouraged to wear their CYO uniforms for this special Mass dedicated to sportsmanship and the CYO spirit. Please seat yourselves to the far right of the church as you face the alter. Players will serve as collectors and bring up the gifts.

    Given this is the first Sunday of the month, there will be a coffee Sunday in the gym afterwards. It would be appreciated if people could donate baked goods for this event.

    Audience: All are invited to participate.

Sunday, February 12 at 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

    Hot Shots Contest
    All intramural and travel teams will have their team hot-shot contents during December and January. The top two from each team will be invited to participate in this event.

    Note: The instructional and B3-4 intramural teams will have their contest. B3-4 will be held before the all-star game.

    Audience: 5th - 12th Grade Boys and Girls

    Bus Trip to Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA

    Hoping to arrange as part of trip MVPs of Character Speaker, which explores the relationship between healthy character development, mature decision-making, and academic achievement. Basketball sars and well-known figures from the community are invited to speak with school groups about their experience as they relate to the "Most Valuable Pillars" of character, such as respect, responsibility, citizenship, integrity, cooperation and trustworthiness.

    Audience: All St. Martin CYO participants and their families. Note: space is limited.
